Canners I need your help!!!

Im in a little panic, can anyone tell me if you can use a pressure or bwb canner on a glass top stove?  When I got my gear I had an electric with the metal coil burners. But then we got the free stove from my parents neighbors  and I didn't think a thing about it...til now!!

When I got my canner last winter it had a large orange sticker on the side saying to NOT can on a glass top stove. I think it is mostly a weight issue but my hubby says there may also be an issue of uneven heating (more than with usual cooking). When we moved, the house had a glass top stove. One of the first things we did was order a gas stove that I can use my canner on.
Good luck.

I know person who cracked a glass top with a canner and another who's been doing it with no problem for years.

However, I've read many sources that say the canners are too heavy for most glass tops...

Hey Stephanie!
What brand of canner do you have? I was going to buy an All-American until I read that you couldn't use it on a smooth top range. So I bought a 25 qt. Presto canner from Walmart (it was way cheaper, too) that specifically said it could be used on a smooth top range. It has a thicker base the size of a large burner, which I guess helps spread the weight out(?). I canned 25 chickens (6 qts and 6 pts at a time) last fall with no problem using the Presto on our glass smooth-top range.
{On to mea culpa: Life's been horrendous but that's still a bad excuse; I'll send off a letter this week, and then you can castigate me for being a bad friend.}

i am sure that it is a weight issue. point loads on a glass surface is a bad idea. we have all american pressure canners and highly recommend them.
