Funny thing I forgot to mention.....
We no longer have a working microwave. We had one that was working but was starting to rust a little and though I really didnt want to we got rid of it for a microwave that Helen had in storage, less than a week later it quit working. I don't want to buy a new one, if we plan ahead and use the stove top or (gasp) the toaster oven we shouldn't really need one. I dont really miss it. Im not sure how the rest of the house feels about it.

Hi there! Long time reader and first time poster.
Around a year ago, my husband chucked out the microwave because he's a bit on the paranoid side and doesn't dig the whole microwave radiation thing, and life hasn't changed much for us at all. The toaster oven and our stove top is a fine alternative, although I find that my husband sucks at reheating food or even making toast without burning anything...
We had a microwave for years that I think was probably only used for my husband to heat up his coffee. When we moved we didn't replace it and I have not missed it once.
I've read the studys on them and won't use one.
I am actually cool without it. I have not missed it. I think that is because I do not do a lot of cooking around the house though... lol
